Vegan Ranch Dressing

Going vegan-ish…and wanting better food choices for my family, the issue of Ranch Dressing has been a dilemna in our house. My husband and children LOVE Ranch Dressing. They use it on various food items, like pizza, pasta, salads, dip, etc. It’s pretty much a staple in our home even though we no longer buy and have not bought the kind you can get in the grocery store for over 5 years. I just cannot bring myself to put it in the grocery store cart because I’ve read the label. SCARY!

We have tried many different brand names of organic Ranch, but the traditional flavors were just not there, leaving my family disgruntled. I attempted to make home made ranch dressing a few times but I was never impressed with the consistency, flavor, or the amount of ingredients that was required to make it taste decent. 

That is until yesterday. 

I follow several raw food/vegan blogs and many bloggers swear by this recipe for Ranch Dressing. I was skeptical but figured what did I have to lose, other than wasted ingredients. If my family hated it, I knew I would at least eat it. 

I looked at several renditions of the recipe and decided to tweak it a bit, since I like full flavored food items. I don’t like “hints” of flavor. I need FLAVOR..and lots of it.

Without further ado…..here is the Mama Jamma Vegan Ranch Dressing recipe. 

1 and 1/2 cup raw cashews (not salted, not roasted, RAW) 
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 cup, or a little more of water, (depending on how thick or thin you like your dressing. If using as a dip, use only 1 cup. It thicken in the fridge.) 
4 cloves garlic
1 Tablespoon onion flakes
1 and 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 Tablespoons honey

Throw all ingredients in high speed blender (like a Vitamix). Just make sure its a high speed blender. 
Pour into mason jar and enjoy!!!! 

Trust me….I was skeptical at first too. 

I poured it over my salad yesterday and my taste buds were pleasantly surprised. I had it again tonight for dinner and actually had to contain myself because it is super yummy just eating it by the spoonful.

My dinner last night consisted of a large salad with this scrump Ranch Dressing and a side of roasted spiralized purple potatoes cooked in coconut oil…yummmmm!
